PH Design Team and a Challenge

Hello ya'll and WELCOME BACK!!!

Today is Paper Hoarders Design Team Day and challenge day. Yep, that's new. :)  The Design Team has been busy in their sweat shops creating all day and night to bring you these FABULOUS projects!! We did it a little different this time and, while not mandatory, a couple of our designers took the added challenge of using the sketch along with the theme. The theme today was to create something that told a story. The project should reflect a fictional or non-fictional book or life event they have encountered. The book could be anything from Steven King to Dr. Seuss!!  Talk about unlimited possibilities. The life event could be anything that has changed their life, good or bad. So, a double challenge. Here is the sketch, if they so chose to play.

The sketch can be found  HERE. I LOVE the versatility and selection of their sketches and encourage you to give a sketch a try. Remember, sketches don't have to be followed exactly!!! They are a guide.. there to help.

Here is my project. I chose to do a life event. The event I chose was the loss of my lil sister, Stacey. I have only made a journal, which was for my mom, so this was a bit difficult for me. My card is also about being "GRATEFUL" for the time I had with her and also those that are still in my life.
Both vellum pieces were typed and printed and are from 2 poems read at my sister's service. The pattern paper under the long poem and the butterfly are from "Spring In Bloom" by g.c.d studios. The flowers are Prima. The cardstock is from Recollections. The bird stamp is a Studio G stamp and Grateful and Miss You are CTMH. The bling is also Recollections. Twine from The Twinery.

You will see how very talented they all are with different ideas and creativity overflowing!! I'm sure you will see how inspiring these ladies are as well.!!  We would LOVE to have you join in on the fun and gather your creativity and try each challenge. The project style is yours to decide.. whether it be an altered item, card, or lay out!! Whatever you would like to do!! So, grab your crafty snack, get your mojo off the shelf, and jump in!!!  :)

The theme for their FIRST post is ..........  BUTTERFLIES and JOY!!!  I totally LOVE butterflies and who doesn't love joy?  This project idea was from our steampunk, trash to treasure artist , Boni. She does AMAZING work and can turn what most people throw away into a beautiful work of art.  Be sure to click her name and go check out her blog to see for yourself!! Anyways, she had it all planned and ready to go with the team as a surprise for me. How wonderfully awesome are they?? I am soo blessed to have such a great team!!

Happy Birthday Kimi!!!

Happy Birthday KIMI !!!

Hello ya'll and I'm glad you stopped by to help us wish our special friend a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! She has touched my heart in so many ways and I am so proud to be her friend. I have made her a lil something special along with my daughter's help that we think she will love. she better anyways.. hehe...
So.. without making her wait any longer.. here are a couple pics of her present. We hope you like it Kimi!! Happy Birthday toots. Love you!!!!

This "rotating" frame has room for 4 photos.. how great since you have 4 gorgeous kiddos...  It sits atop a lazy susan and can be twirled to view all the photos without picking it up. It is decorated with handmade flowers made by my daughter and myself with lots of love and patience. :) boy if only you knew how much patience. hehe..  The base was sanded and the Gesso applied then inked. Yellow and green paints were rubbed on to add a vintage type style. I also made the gorgeous stick pin of glass beads to compliment the vintage feel of the piece. The piece also has lace, tulle, and feathers that adorn the top.

We hope you like this Kimi and wish you a VERY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! Love ya girl!!!

Please go visit our other super friend ZENI and see what she created for Kimi's special day!!! And.. don't forget to   head on over to Kimi's blog >>> HERE to wish her a Happy Birthday!!!

Until next time... HAPPY CRAFTING!!!
